Dream

I did the poster above for the MANIFEST HOPE online art contest put on by Shepard Faireyso I figured I'd post it here. I was lucky enough to get a chance to go to to Denver for the convention. Deana was able to score
both a reasonably priced place to stay ( she found a flat to rent at $250 a day, whereas many places where jacked up to $900 a day! ) as well as score tickets to Obama's acceptance speech ( which were nearly impossible to get, especially if you didn't live in the Denver area ). It was pretty amazing and inspiring. The crowd was quite fired up!

It was heartening to see Obama do so well at last nights debate. We're a step closer to getting the change this country needs
after 8 years of Bush. It's obvious McCain would be a continuation of that same outmoded thinking.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy on a lot of COMICS stuff this year. I did short 8-pager coming up for HULK FAMILY completed, as well as a short 8-pager for SECRET IDENTITIES, an anthology of Asian American comics. More details to come.

Hy Benton! It must have been an unforgettable evening there in Denver. I saw some clips of the speech on tv and was really amazed by the man, hope he'll be the next who enters the oval room.
Great poster, and I can't wait to see your new comics!

anson-Definitely nosebleed seats. Still had a pretty good view. Certainly better than the poor folks seated
behind the stage!

dominic-I hope he wins too! Otherwise, I may be moving up to your country!

roberto-Thanks! The poster will gracing one of the local Obama offices out here in the Los Angeles area.
I'll have more on the new stuff next posting.

Did my absentee voting today and it's a load off my shoulders. Just 3 more weeks of the madness. I don't know what we'll do if we get another 4 years of this nonsense. We might move to Canada where my wife is from. They just re-elected their conservative party, but they are 'mostly harmless'.

BTW Benton, this is Dan Ross, you might remember me as one of the first CGI interns ILM had in 1991. I used to bug you for illustrations for my anime magazine. Well, I've been professionally animating since then and am living in the Sonoma wine country.

It's great to stumble on your blog and check out what you are up to. Take care! Dan

Benton, I found your blog via someone on Facebook named Deana Igelsrud. I'm amazed at how wonderful your work is! I'm really impressed. My cousin is illustrator Kerry Gammill so I know a little about terrific artists! Looking forward to discovering more of your work and comic books!

shonokin-Glad to hear you're doing well! I remember your zines. I'm sure I still have a few packed away somewhere in my mountain of books and magazines.
Sorry it took so long to respond, but it's great to know
you can continue to do what you love here in the states! Thanks for stopping in!

howard beale's ghost-Didn't I meet you at a 24-hour comics event in the valley? I remember Mr. Gammill did a book about drawing comics and doing movie storyboaards/concept art some time ago. Deana is my significant other. She seems to attract such a huge and diverse group via her facebook page. She's been trying to get me to put one up, but I have a hard enough time keeping up with this one blog. Thanks for stopping by!
